Who we are

Established in 1977, the North Bench Fire District has proudly served the residents of Boundary County for over four decades, embodying a commitment to community safety and resilience.

Our district spans more than 60 square miles, encompassing the areas north and west of Bonners Ferry and extending west of Moyie Springs. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community receives prompt and effective emergency services.

To maintain our high standards of preparedness, we conduct rigorous training sessions every Thursday evening at 6:00 PM at our Station 1, conveniently located by Three Mile. These sessions are essential for honing our skills and ensuring that our team is ready to respond to any emergency situation.

Our mission is clear: we strive to preserve life and property, promote public safety, and foster economic growth. We achieve this through proactive leadership, strategic management, and a commitment to being a reliable all-risk life safety response provider for our community.

What We Do

Preserve life and property, enhance public safety, and promote economic growth through effective leadership, management, and comprehensive all-risk life safety response.

By The Numbers

Our district is having an explosion in residential & commercial growth, North Bench is the fastest growing district in Boundary County.

The decline in volunteers nationally, affects us all, the work/life balance is difficult. Combined with ever-increasing call for service, the limited resources available, now more than ever the need for volunteers at all levels (firefighters, Support and Auxiliary) is at a premium! Small pieces of time can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

Me: the individual, me, what forms the foundation.

Everything else: all that makes us, us.

Time is a precious commodity, we don’t work or volunteer to make money we give of our time for different rewards.
