On Wednesday the 9th, the Idaho department of Lands upgraded the area to Stage Two Fire restrictions. This means no open burning, including campfires or charcoal, smoking without an three foot area cleared of flammable materials, operating any motorized vehicle off of established roads and trails and no use of chainsaws or other gasoline powered tools from 1 PM to 1 AM.
In cooperation with the Idaho Department of Lands and the Forest Service Your Firefighters went to several of our recreation areas in the District and placed fliers informing the public of the restrictions.
We understand this is an inconvenience, but we also agree with the decision, even though a small amount of rain fell this week, it was not near enough to justify lifting the restrictions, the heat with low humidity added to it the wind drying out materials, makes it unsafe to lift the restrictions.
If at any time you see smoke in the district, please immediately dial 911, so Your Firefighters can investigate and take direct actions to keep our community safe! Also, if you are out camping, and someone calls 911 and reports seeing fire, please understand, it is the duty of Your firefighters to extinguish the fire, please be respectful and understanding with them.
